I tend to do a lot of dramatic makeup looks in the fall. The season just feels right for jewel-toned smokey eyes, deep burgundy and wines, lacquered red lips, etc. However this year I want to take a moment to acknowledge the often overlooked mid-toned nude shades. These not quite warm but definitely not cool, almost tawny, prettier than taupe, possibly inspired by the texture of suede, colors are perfect paired with an oversized cashmere sweater and mussed hair. Apply them in watercolor like washes over your features, emphasizing the eyelids, cheekbones and lips. Skip mascara but deepen your brows for an editorial touch.
