The official start of Spring 2017 is only a month away but somehow I am not quite ready for cheerful colors and boundless optimism – perhaps it’s the political situation or maybe just the weather. However, at the moment, intense pigments in rich shades and clashing finishes of lacquer paired with matte have my eye. And yes, Vasilisa’s neck and ears are painted a powdery white, inspired by traditional kabuki makeup.
