Although it was only around for a few short years (1977 – 1980), the extreme glamour of Studio 54 is still a major influence in both the fashion and beauty worlds. Grace Jones, Bianca Jagger, Liza Minnelli, Diana Ross, Jerry Hall, Amanda Lear, Pat Cleveland, Divine and many others took night club style to a whole other level. In fact so many iconic makeup looks came out of Studio 54 that it’s hard to focus on just one. So rather than recreate a specific look, I decided to take inspiration from the era but do something more modern. This tutorial features a mash up of several Studio 54 signature styles; metallic eye shadow, strong cheeks and a deep nude lip. Makeup favored cool tones back in the late 70’s, lots of silver and blue eyeshadows, fuchsia cheeks, pinky beige lips, etc. However I went with warm colors that are almost monochromatic. Bronze, deep warm rose and sunset shades such as burnt apricot and glowing peach are flattering on a wide variety of skin tones plus they are perfect for summer nights. Enjoy the tutorial and please email us with any suggestions for looks you would like to see!
