Forgive me for the slow post rate this past few weeks! ?For those of you who sent concerned emails, rest assured that the rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. ?Instead I’ve been locked inside a studio, buried under mounds of white powder (make-up powder, not the kind so prevalent at Hollywood parties) and red lipstick for the final scenes of an art film. ?We’ve wrapped and now that I’m back, I’d like to say a little something about bleached brows. ?This is a subject that I get a continuous stream of questions about so here are the answers to your top 3 inquiries:
Q) Should I bleach my eyebrows?
A) Are you the sort of person who enjoys change or do you cry when the hair stylist trims off more than a 1/4 inch? ?If you are blond, do you like the way Lara Stone?and?Kylie look? ?If you are Asian, check out Soo Joo. ?If you are Latina, Jennifer Lopez is a great example of a lightened but not platinum brow. ?Worried that it’s not a good look for dark skinned girls? ?Adesuwa certainly pulls it off and it was big on the runway this past season on models of all skin tones. ?However it’s not just coloring that matters. ?Does your face shape need a darker brow to give it definition?
Q) How light should I go?
A) For a subtle change, lighten one or two shades. ?This is particularly beautiful on girls with black brows? the difference between black and a deep brown is really striking. ?You can also bleach your brows lighter and then color them with eyebrow dye to the exact shade you want. ?RefectoCil makes the best natural colored eyebrow dye. ?For fun, bleach them white and then dye them pale pink or burgundy for Fall (or just color them in with bright shades of eyeliner!).
Q) How do I bleach my brows?
A) It’s a good idea to have it professionally done the first time. ?Some hair salons or beauty spas offer it but eyebrow specialists like Anastasia?are the best places to go. ?If you don’t live near eyebrow professionals, you can purchase eyebrow bleach at drugstores such as CVS, Duane Reade or online. ?Just be patient, go slow and be prepared to do multiple applications to get the results you want. ?Don’t over bleach! ?If you feel burning, wipe off the solution and immediately wash the skin.
