I firmly believe that there is a perfect shade of red lipstick for everyone. ?If you have not found your iconic red yet, here is a roundup of my personal favorites. ?They all have a few things in common? I prefer my red opaque, without shimmer and with a warm or neutral undertone. Sheers are nice but I don’t really consider them to belong in this category. ?Shimmer or glittery bits tend to make red lipstick look cheap. And blue/pink undertones can be aging or bring out the sallowness of skin. ?Oh and when it comes to red, the brighter the better! So here it goes, my top five red lipsticks listed in no particular order:
1) Rouge Dior in Ara Red: ?This is the color I used in the above Polaroid of the gorgeous Charlotte Carey. ?It is my go-to red, the one I can’t live without. ?The color is very intense with an orange undertone and a luxe finish. ?Modern, eye-catching and very chic.
2) Tom Ford Lip Color in Cherry Lush: ?I am a bit torn when it comes to picking just one of his reds but for the sake of this list, I will go with Cherry Lush. ?It is a neutral shade of red that can swing a bit pink or orange depending on the lip liner or skin tone it is used with. ?The finish is slick and expensive looking? a reflection of the incredibly beautiful packaging.
3) Hourglass Femme Rouge in Raven: ?A long lasting, well balanced red with rich coverage and a moisture enhancing satin finish. All that and it also manages to be paraben, sulfate and phthalate free!
4) NARS Semi Matte Lipstick in Jungle Red: ?This is the most true red of the bunch. It has a neutral undertone, semi-matte finish and a 1950’s bad girl vibe, perfect for summer!
5) Armani Lipstick in Shade 401: ?A bright red with just a hint of orange, it’s vibrant and moisturizing with a high sheen finish. ?You really can’t go wrong with Armani lipsticks, the textures and colors are consistently excellent.
